How Google Classroom can help you manage coursework from a distance

3 April 2020

In times when you can’t share a school classroom with your students, you have to look for alternatives. Google Classroom can help you out here. It’s an easy-to-use tool that helps teachers manage coursework and has been developed together with educators.

What is Google Classroom?

Google Classroom is designed to save you time, keep everything organized and communicate with students. You’ll be grouped together with your students in a digital classroom. In this classroom, students can find and complete their assignments. You can grade their work and provide feedback. All digitally.

What can I use Google Classroom for?

  • Assign and grade coursework securely
  • Reuse assignments you created earlier
  • Post, comment, and facilitate classroom discussions
  • Keep materials and resources organized on the Classwork page
  • Give better feedback faster
  • Manage and view guardians, students, and co-teachers on the People page

Keep everything organized

The way you distribute Classroom assignments saves you time: a copy of your original document is automatically created for each student. This also avoids chaos and mistakes, as students won’t have to email you their finished work. They simply hand it in with the turn-in button at the top. Submitted work will appear in one folder in your Google Drive.

Give feedback easily

Since students are working in Google Documents, a teacher can easily open and comment on the Doc while students are still working on it. When grading the final result you’ll have access to a comment bank created from previous comments. Another time saver!

1 + 1 = 3

Google Classroom is fully integrated with the COOL Platform. COOL gives you even more classroom management tools and helps you by automatically creating a Google Classroom for your group. COOL also offers a Plagiarism check within Classroom.
